This ministry at Christ Church involves all young adults of the congregation, which is entered on mentoring the young adults and youth in their faith. From worship on Sundays to events at the church, this ministry shapes the young leaders of our church.
Young Adult Group (YAG)
At Christ Church we strive to involve the young adults of the parish in discussion and educational opportunities. About once a month, we meet in the church lounge over beer & snacks to chat to share our faith stories in a comfortable setting. Once a month, Ascension House will host dinners for the young adults of CC!
Adult Christian Education
is an important part of the church’s overall mission to bear witness to the truth of the gospel in a skeptical and cynical world. It thus represents an outreach to those ‘inquiring in the temple.’ But it also concerns deepening our Christian discipleship through engaging hard questions in an atmosphere open to new receiving insight from the Spirit. Through this exploration of our faith we grow closer to God and to one another.
Advent and Lenten Studies
These penitential seasons of the Church year offer a concentrated opportunity for a renewed commitment to prayer and Scripture reading. These commitments are often easier to maintain with accountability and encouragement. And so at Christ Church wegather for extra study around these seasons of the year. Sometimes this study comes in the form of a more traditional Bible study. At other times we read a book together or hone our prayer and meditation skills through quiet days or walking the labyrinth.
Christ Church has a history of engaging with difficult moral and theological topics in an effort to find truth and seek justice. In 2015 Christ Church hosted a multidisciplinary panel discussion on the topic of death and dying. In the spring of 2017 we look forward to a study series on our understanding of marriage and human sexuality.
“One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.” —Psalm 27: 4
