he Christ Church Memorial Garden was dedicated on October 4th, 1998. It was designed by Jean Webb to incorporate the public nature of the churchyard into the naturally more reflective atmosphere of a memorial space. By using a variety of textures and colors in the plants used, Jean aimed to make the garden beautiful in every season, and it is a testament to her skill and the vision of the Garden Committee of the time that people from the community and parish alike use and admire the grounds at all times of the year. The Celtic cross that stands in front of the parish hall was added to the garden in 2005. It was carved by St. Albert sculptor Gerry Nason based on a design at Seabury Western Theological Seminary. It incorporates a number of symbols for God’s eternal nature, and acts as a comfort and reminder of God’s presence and love. The Garden’s continuing beauty and growth is thanks to a dedicated contingent of volunteers who plant, weed and tend with love and care each summer. We look forward to another exciting year and to seeing what God has in store for this beautiful space in the years to come.
