Children and families are integral to the vibrancy of our parish and its future. At Christ Church, we’re committed to welcoming families and encouraging them in their journeys. The variety of children’s programing offered at Christ Church helps our families engage in parish life. Family outreach programs provide parishioners with rich children’s ministry opportunities.

Children’s Talk

Each Sunday our littlest members gather at the chancel steps with Rev. Sue or Rev. Nick for a story, game, song, or science experiment! Through halos, fish, balloons and even a visit from a moose, we endeavour to welcome children into our midst and share God’s love and learning with them each week.

Christ Church is blessed with wonderful volunteers who look after our infants and toddlers each Sunday morning so that moms and dads can ‘sit in peace for five minutes’! The nursery is a hive of activity as children play, sing and read books together. Nursery Registration Form 2015 Church Nursery Volunteer Guidelines

Sunday School

For most us, our earliest church memories are of Sunday school – making new friends and learning about Jesus. Christ Church offers a nurturing Sunday school program for ages 3 to 12 with caring teachers and engaging, interactive lessons. There are amazing volunteers who support this ministry and share the Christian faith with our school-aged children. This year we are using the Holy Moly curriculum and the kids seem to love the crafts and stories that go along with each lesson. During the year the Sunday School has some special events like an Advent Garden, Good Friday service, and Easter celebration. During the summer months, we continue this ministry with a special program, such as Veggie Tales!

Baby Play Group

Every Wednesday morning (9:30-11am)  Christ Church provides a playground and coffee shop for a group of babies and their caregivers. This is an opportunity to play and meet together. The occasional extra event is put together by the members and coordinated through the Wednesday meetings and closed facebook group. Our group is open to the public and newcomers are always welcome!

“We will not hide these stories from our children; we will tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that God has done.” —Psalm 78:4

All of our teachers are volunteers who have met the security requirements of the Diocese including police and child welfare clearances.

Messy Church

Messy Church is a way of being church for families. It is an informal and low key setting, perfect for inviting friends and neighbours! We gather on a Friday evening for a simple meal, crafts, stories and games. The stories of Jesus are shared and celebrated as we focus on being the light of Christ in the world. Check out our calendar to find out when our next event is! Read more about the Messy Church movement here:
